If you wish to search your genealogy, this is the place to come - many people from the USA have 17th century ancestors from Somerset, because so may were transported to the West Indies after the Monmouth rebellion and subsequently found their way to the States.
Wells Festival of Literature

Held in the beautiful city of Wells annually  - this year between 13th and 20th Oct 2006 - also international poetry and short story competitions with £500 cash prizes, judged by well known authors, producers, poets - this year Tim Dee and Jull Paton Walsh.
